Aug. 5, 2005: The NCAA Executive Committee announces a new Native American mascot policy to prohibit NCAA colleges and universities from displaying hostile and abusive racial/ethnic/national origin mascots, nicknames or imagery at any NCAA championships. The policy, which took effect Feb. 1, 2006, prohibits schools with such mascots from hosting any NCAA championship competitions. August 5, 2005 1
