November 2012: College Football Hall of Fame coach John Gagliardi completes his 65th and final season as a college coach with a 489-138-11 career record. Gagliardi coached Saint John’s (Minnesota) from 1953 to 2012 and Carroll College in Montana from 1949 to 1952. November 1, 2012 7
April 2012: Legendary Tennessee Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt retires after 38 years of coaching. Summitt accumulated 1,098 wins, which was a record for any NCAA men’s or women’s basketball coach at the time of her retirement. She led Tennessee to eight NCAA national championships. April 1, 2012 8
